Learn about the unique animals, grasses and wildflowers and their adaptations to our dry sandplains habitat. Come discover the diverse creatures throughout these open areas of nature. Meet us at the kiosk by Parking Lot #1 on Scout Road at Camp Saratoga for this hour-long walk.

Spring Vacation Week Program!Time: 11am-2pmPlace: Saratoga Spa State ParkWe will be joining in on the fun of the annual fish stocking morning at the Spa State Park. Visit our table at Geyser Picnic Area to participate in children’s crafts, learn about the other local environmental organizations and don’t forget to bring a bucket with you to get a fish to drop into Geyser Creek! Come make, talk and learn at the Spa State Park’s annual fish release.

Come listen for spring peepers and wood frogs and explore the wetlands at the Neilmann parcel of Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park! We will be meeting us at the Neilmann parking lot on Ruggles Road just south of King Road for an hour-long exploration.
Conservation Walk Mon, April 9th
Spring Vacation Week Program!Time: 1-2pmPlace: Old GickPreregistration required by April 6th: Call (518) 450-0321 or email shabanah@wiltonpreserve.orgWilton Wildlife Preserve & Park has been involved with various conservation efforts within the Saratoga Sandplains and the surrounding forest. Come join us on a fun walk through the Oak/Pine Savannah and learn the importance of this early successional habitat. We will also be looking at the forest community and understanding the characteristics that help maintain a thick understory habitat. The walk will leave from the parking lot on Route 50 which is just under four miles past Wilton Mall and will take place on the Old Gick Farm trail.

During this walk we will investigate some of the first signs of spring that we see in nature from budding trees to melting vernal pools. This program is open to the public ages 5 and up.
Wildlife Creatures Collage Sat, March 17th

Children will take a walk at our Camp Saratoga parcel in search of wildlife inspiration. Along the way, participants will collect items in nature to create their very own wildlife creature collage. This program is open to the public ages 5 and up.
Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe event for 3/3 Cancelled
With the unusual winter we have had with the lack of any appreciable snowfall, the trails have become too icy and hazardous to hold the event on the 3rd.
We tried three times this year, but Mother Nature just didn't cooperate! Mark your calendars, the next Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe is scheduled for Saturday evening, January 26th, 2013!

Food Chains and Food WebsTime: 10:30 am-12 pm Place: WWPP Office (80 Scout Road) Fee $3 per child.Looking to add some outdoor winter activities to your homeschool curriculum? Bring your kids to Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park to discover the outdoors and learn about the many predators and prey that inhabit WWPP. We will learning about the many food chains and food webs at the various habitats within the preserve. The indoor part of this program will be about 30 minutes long and the outdoor part will be about 40 minutes long. Please dress appropriately for weather and insects. Snowshoes will be available for rental: $5 for nonmembers. If there is no snow, the program will take place without snowshoes. The same program will be held both days to accommodate schedules.To WWPP Office:From the South: Take the I87 North to Exit 15. Go north on Route 50 for about four miles. Make a left onto Scout Road. Go straight for 0.3 miles. Just before the railroad bridge make a right into the parking lot with a barn. We will use twigs, pine cones and other materials found in nature to create our picture frames. This will be a great present to give to grandma, dad or your valentine for Valentine’s Day. Join us for a talk with post Master’s student Andrea Chaloux as we talk about her latest findings in the most recent Blanding’s Turtle study in the Wilton area. Learn about the history and the future behind our For the first hour we will hear from Andrea and get our questions answered by our local expert. The second hour, we will take a walk through our wetland parcel (Neilmann) to discover what Blanding’s Turtle habitat would look like in the winter. MLK Day: Winter Scavenger Hunt , Mon Jan 16th
Time: 1pm-2pm Place: Camp SaratogaBring your child out to Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park for an afternoon of outdoor exploration. Children will learn to use their senses to explore the outdoors during winter by working to complete a nature scavenger hunt. This program is designed for children 5 and older. Snowshoes will be available for rental 30 minutes before the program: $5 for nonmembers. If there is no snow, the program will take place without snowshoes.
