Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe DATE CHANGE to Feb 4th
Well, with no significant snow in the forecast for the next week, we have made the decision to postpone the event to our back-up date of February 4th.NOTE DATE CHANGE! The popular and highly anticipated Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe will take place on Feb 4th 2012! Join us at Camp Saratoga for a nighttime ski or snowshoe under a full moon and 2.5 miles of candlelit trails. We will be starting earlier this year at 6:00 to give families with younger children a chance to come out and enjoy the magic of the Preserve & Park on a moonlit night. Thanks to our sponsor the Wilton Rotary for their support of this wonderful event. Snowshoe rentals will be available from 5:30pm at $5 a pair.

There will be short reports on the Preserve & Park's past year in conservation, environmental education, and in recreation. Everyone is welcome.We are still excited to be celebrating our 15th year as Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park! So even though 2011 is drawing to a close, our anniversary year is still a cause for celebration. Join us for a festive gathering to share in our success not only of this past year, but of the past 15! The Reception will begin at the close of the Annual Meeting, at approximately 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.

1 pm-2 pm; Place: Camp Saratoga North TrailWhat better way to be creative than to make your annual craft in a different way. Join us for a small stroll as we collect things from nature to make our own version of a turkey for Thanksgiving. The stroll will be approximately 20 minutes and the craft will be approximately 40 minutes. This program is for children of all ages. This activity will not take place if there is rain.To Camp Saratoga North and South Trails:From the South: Take the I87 North to Exit 15. Go north on Route 50 for about four miles. Make a left onto Scout Road. Go straight under the railroad bridge until the crosswalk and make a right into Parking Lot #1. For both trails we will meet in the parking lot.From the North: Take the I87 South to Exit 16. Take a left onto Ballard Road, cross the Northway and make the first right on Edie Road. Continue for 0.6 miles and make a turn at your first left onto Scout Road. Drive down Scout Road until you reach Parking Lot #1 on the left side of the street
Pine Oak Walk Sat, Nov 19th

No matter where you go at the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park, you will find lots of pines and oaks due to our pine-oak savannah habitat. During this beautiful mile long walk through rich pine-oak forests, we will discuss the different pine and oak species and how they have adapted to various landscapes. Please dress appropriately for weather and ticks. This program will not take place if there is rain.To the Fox Parcel:From the South: From the Wilton Mall (Exit 15 on I87), go north on Route 50 for about four miles. Make a right across the street from the “U” shaped parking lot marked as “Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park”. The Fox Parcel parking lots is rectangular shaped and across Route 50 from the Old Gick Farm Trail.From the North:Take the I87 South to Exit 16. Take a left onto Ballard Road and drive for 2.1 miles. At the traffic light, make a right onto Route 50 and drive 0.7 miles. Make a left across the street from the “U” shaped parking lot marked as “Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park”. The Fox Parcel parking lots is rectangular shaped and across Route 50 from the Old Gick Farm Trail.

Tree Seeds Walk Sat, Nov 12th
10 am-11am; Place: Old Gick Farm Trail Trees adapt extremely well to their climate! You would be surprised to know all of the different adaptations that have occurred over thousands of centuries. Often times, the type of adaptations indicate natural obstacles within the particular ecosystem. During this mile long walk, we will talk about the tree life cycle and its relationship to animals and the ecosystem. Please dress appropriately for weather and ticks. 1 pm-2 pm; Place: Camp Saratoga North TrailCome join us for a brief afternoon stroll as we collect leaves for our craft project! We will be using the natural chemicals in leaves to make prints on fabric. These Fall Leaf Prints make great fall décor for your wall or pillowcase covers! Trail Update on Hunting Season 9/22/2011
Fall is certainly in the air and that means hunting season is almost here. A reminder to all our trail users that hunting is allowed on lands owned by New York State and by Saratoga County. Be aware and dress in bright colors! Please look at the protected lands map http://www.wiltonpreserve.org/the-lands if you want to see which parcels allow hunting. Remember there is never hunting allowed on lands owned by the Town of Wilton or The Nature Conservancy.
