February Break Activities!

Looking for something to do during February Vacation? Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park offers a full week of free outdoor programs at Camp Saratoga! In addition to the daily programs, snowshoe and cross-country skis will be available for rent all week at Camp Saratoga Parking Lot #1 on Scout Road.  Rentals are available from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and the last rentals need to be returned by 3:00 pm. Rentals are available for $10.00 per pair for adults and $5.00 for children/students. The February Vacation Schedule of free events is listed below.

 

Sunrise Hike

Sunday, February 19, 7am to 8am

Experience Camp Saratoga at sunrise with an environmental educator! Walk through the meadows and forests as the sun rises over the treetops. This walk is suitable for ages 14 and older.

 

Winter Fun Day

Monday, February 20, 11am to 3pm

Enjoy the warmth of the bonfire and sled down the hill at Camp Saratoga. Make a snowman and eat a smore. Explore the trails with a cup of hot coco and marvel at the Preserve in winter. We will be enjoying the outdoors all day, come by whenever you want!

 

Animal Tracking

Tuesday, February 21, 1pm to 2pm

Go for a hike through the eyes of an animal! Participants will become animals of the winter using their senses. Learn the basics of animal tracking and find out what creatures make their home at Wilton Preserve. Register for this program with the Saratoga Springs Public Library.

 

Winter Scavenger Hunt

Wednesday, February 22, 1pm to 2pm

Explore the outdoors by working to complete a nature scavenger hunt. Find red berries, hug a tree, listen for a bird call, and more!

 

Winter Evening Stroll

Wednesday, February 22, 6pm to 7pm

Enjoy Wilton Preserve under the light of the moon. Check out the forest and meadow cloaked in darkness with an environmental educator as the guide.

 

Animal Adaptations

Thursday, February 23, 1pm to 2pm

How do animals survive the chilly winter in upstate New York? Come on this walk to learn about different animals and how they camouflage, eat, and stay warm during the cold months.

 

Owl Prowl

Thursday, February 23, 6pm to 7pm

Learn about the adaptations that make owls such incredible animals then go search for them in the meadow! Listen for calls and look for wings in the dark. Register for this program with the Saratoga Springs Public Library.
